In this Awkward Afternoon video, Robert and Josh discuss the winter season musical gigs, gifts and whether a Sasquatch and Yeti are the same creature. In our next video we want to answer YOUR questions. Ask Robert and Josh ANYTHING. Can Josh actually speak Klingon? Does the mouthpiece you use really make a difference? Or what their favorite thing about space is. See you next time! #iplayhere
It’s December!
December is here! And that means finding gifts for the musicians in your lives! A great present for any budding brass player is a mute—mutes are used to create a specific sound, or for quieter practice. Stop by our Troy or Macomb store, or contact us with further questions! #iplayhere

Ligatures
Most beginning woodwind players will begin with a metal ligature to hold the reed to their mouthpiece. As the player starts to hone their embouchure and skills, they might want to upgrade their equipment. One of the first pieces a student can swap out is the ligature! And a popular upgrade option is the Jewel, or Rovner, ligature.
These ligatures features a synthetic material as opposed to metal—which allows for the reed to vibrate more freely while reducing leaking where the reed rests at the facing of the mouthpiece.
