Trombone and Low Brass
Robert W. Clark was the Port Huron High School Director of Bands from 1983-1998. Mr. Clark earned both a Bachelor and Master of Music Education from Wayne State University and studied trombone with Joseph Skrzynski, Detroit Symphony Orchestra. The PHHS bands actively participated in Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association Festivals during his tenure, earning a total of forty one first division ratings for concert bands and marching band. The Wind Ensemble and Symphony Bands were awarded First Division ratings for nine consecutive years from 1990-1998. In addition, the bands won numerous awards and superior ratings at music festivals in Montreal, Boston, Chicago, Orlando and Nashville. Mr. Clark was awarded M.S.B.O.A. District XVI Band Teacher of the Year in 1992, Port Huron Area Schools Most Influential Educator in 1995, Port Huron High School Essay Contest Teacher of the Year in 1996 and Outstanding Music Educator Award from the Nashville Festival of Music after the bands and color guards won the Grand Champion Award in 1996. Mr. Clark was inducted into the American School Band Directors Association in 1989 and remains an active member. Additionally, Bob currently performs as a member of the Motor City Brass Band.
